no, toliets don't drain in the opposite direction in the southern hemisphere
people told me i should check it out when i visited australia.
i did, but their toliets don't spin when flushed. the just fill with water, then drain more or less straight down. i think it might be due to the type of toliets. they have two flush buttons. one is for a half flush and the other for a full flush. saves water, ya know.
so i really wondered about it considering lots of people say it happens. i did some research and found out that the answer is technically yes, but the effect would be too miniscule to notice. the shape of the bowl, direction water pours into it, and direction it was already spinning when you flushed (even if very small) all have a greater impact.
