Goodbye AIM?

I never thought I'd be thinking this, but I've been thinking a lot recently that I have outgrown AIM. Crazy, huh? Especially considering that I've been using it since 7th grade. My screen name, soupman14 became my online persona when I was 14. See the connection? Creative, huh? That's 11 years ago this year. Wow.

So what gives? Why dump AIM, that which has been so good to me over these last 11 years? Honestly, I don't get a helluva lot of IM's on it anymore. It ceased being my primary chat program the last year or so. I've gone to gtalk. Most of the people I chat with online use it. Off the top of my head, there's only one really close friend who doesn't use gtalk, and he's not on all that often.

My use of aim has decreased quite a bit since leaving college. My computer use to be on 24x7 to catch any IM's while I was at class or asleep. Then I started working a real job and couldn't be on aim too much during the day. My use has since slowly tapered off.

So this is your fair warning. I may not be on as much as I am now (which really isn't a lot as it is). I doubt if this warning will matter much as I believe most people who read this already talk to me on gtalk.
