Made it to Chicago (Finally posting!)

Well well well. Bella and I made it to Chicago. We moved in on July 12th, but I'm finally getting around to blogging about the whole thing. Well, mostly it'll be pictures, but hey, you know what they saying about a picture being worth a thousands words...

We rented a big old Penske and spent two days packing the sucker up:

We bought a kennel barely small enough to fit between the seats in the front cab for the cats (Lizzy on the left, Wolfie on the right):

We'd put them in a larger cage we bought during breaks to give them a chance to pee/poop/eat/drink (see it in the lower left):

We saw some beautiful country in Utah:

Eating dinner at a restaurant in Utah, I asked the waiter what was the "Surf and Turf" menu item. I wanted to know what kind of surf and what kind of turf. His reply: "Shrimp and Steak over a bed of mushrooms, so I guess the mushrooms are the turf..."

The Rockies weren't as massive as we expected, yet still beautiful:

Northeastern Colorado / Nebraska / Iowa were

We finally made it to Chicago after 4 days and 1800 miles:

Moving into the apartment was tough, but thankfully we had help from some of Bella's friends:

We have an awesome southernly view of Lake Michigan:

And of Hyde Park:

And now that it's almost a month later, we're pretty much all unpacked and got the place the way we like it. Our first visitor is coming this weekend: Bella's mom. I'll be backpacking in the Sierras this weekend, so I'll miss them.
