Wednesday, July 23, 2003 :::

so i've had a few things rummaging in my head the past few days. i'm at work right now, so i'll try to expound on them using company time.

i haven't really posted much on my blog recently. why? i'm not sure. a lot of stuff has been going on in my life over the past few months, but in the past i've felt that i didn't want my blog to be a laundry list of occurrences in my life. for some people, that's fine. but me? i want it to be something different, interesting, provoking; a place where you can get to know the real me. i want it to be a place for me to share something about which could apply universally, not just me. (intrigued? check out the archive. it might take a while to get through the whole year and a half, but I usually only posted every few weeks)

i think this summer is turning out to be the best summer of my life. sure, ive had 20 to choose from, but i think this 21st will top them all by far. why? many many many things.

i went back to ryla this summer and seeing all the old friendly faces again plus all the new faces made it wonderful. see my previous post.

i leave for Ghana in 3 days. yes, ghana. that country over in the crook of west africa. why? i'm going with rotarians from my district back home to help put on a ryla (a leadership camp for high school aged people) for the district that includes ghana. we're going to be tourists for a few days, then we're going put on this camp. i'll be in charge of bro/sis cabins and ice breakers. we're going to try to get the RYLArians to sing to their bro/sis cabins, which i'm told won't be as easy as it is at my ryla, but it should be interesting. i will also be teaching the module on having produtive meetings. i'm a bit nervous on this because the material is someone else's and i'm not familar with it yet (tho, this is easily fixed). also, ive never really taught people that i don't kno. before it's been interact board members or a class i was in. this is different. but i think the that is going to make this very interesting is that our modules will be taught in english AND french. we don't really kno how this is going to work yet, so it should be interesting.
this trip is 3 days away and it realy hasn't hit me yet. writing about it just now has brought it closer, but still, i don't think it'll hit me until i'm in the air somewhere between hear and Accra.
i'm taking a journal with me to record my thoughs throughout my trip and when i get back i'm planning to put it online as well as my pictures (i hope 8 rolls of film will be enough?)

and last but not least...there is this girl. {:o) she really makes me smile, and it looks like things are headed in a good direction.
