Saturday, December 20, 2003 :::

it's been a bit of time since my last post. tho i think i did a fair job of updating my blog this quarter.

so i'm home for winter break. glad to be off of school for break. i really outta start paying attention, ie working hard. didn't fail. i studied extreme amounts for finals cuz i was afriad of failing. grades actually not bad. downhill (the difficulty, of course, not my grades) from here, i hope.

i wonder how i will be when i get old? will i be fat? (hopefully not) bald? (yes, it's already true) wrinkly? (probably, i already look old and have sunspots on my head - so ive been wearing hats and beanies lately. i should get some UV rated lotion or something) deaf? (if my parents are any indication, then i'll at least be hard of hearing or maybe it's just the way i talk)

i came home and boy, my parents are looking like they're getting up there. i guesso, considering they weren't the youngest of parents when i was born 21 years ago. but i guess they're really starting to show their age a bit.

so what does my dad do in his free time? he plays pinball on his computer. this frightens me a bit. sure there was a time in my life when all i would do was play solitare on the computer (which later grew into other games). but i grew out of that. got a life. friends. hobbies. talked to people online. emailed. updated my blog. other stuffs. i feel like he's wasting his life away when he could be doing something productive. exercise? hobby? is there something i can do? maybe if i got him a good book for christmas? would he read it? what kinds of books does he like? (no clue! not sure of the last time he even read a book)

they say (why, by the way, is "they") that you have to keep learning to keep your mind sharp as you get old. but who am i to pass judgement, i'm only here on holidays. maybe my dad does a lot at work and needs to unwind.

but it seems like my parents have fallen into a rut, actually, the one they've been in for as long as i can remember. doing the same things all the time. pizza on friday's. geneological research (mom and bro) every other friday for the past 4 years (?). can't really remember the last time they did something for which they could say, guess what we did last week.

what did i do? ghana. shaved head. once painted blue was my head. broken 4th metacarpal. no, none of those were last week, but all within 6 months. but i'm young. does that make a difference?

i like to see myself as a renissance man, always doing new and exciting things. i hope that i will always be so. will i end up like my parents? no. does that mean i do no love my parents. quite the opposite. i can attribute everything about me, who i am, to them in some way, shape, or form.
