so here's my question: when did certain types of christmas lights/decorations become trendy?
when i was a kid, there were two kinds of chrsistmas lights: the old school big colored bulbs and the new school little itty bitty lights that you see on christmas trees in people's homes. nothing terribly fancy, but sometimes people would spell out "Merry Christmas!" or "Joy to the world!" or something festive. Sure, now and then there'd be the fanatic who would hand craft a santa for giana candy cane or something.
But these days, it's like being the cool guy on the block with the newest christmas decoration stuff. I'd say that it started a few years ago with those icicle lights (btw, MR. TREVOR YANG reminded me of the name. before i had this big old fast description of icicle lights, but not now, thanks to TREVOR. he's the man). Last year it was those projectors that took the place of spelling festive words of well wishing. This year it's those giant lighted snowmen/santa clauses with attached blower to keep them inflated. What's next? LED boards that depict scenes from famous christmas movies? Robotic nativity scenes? Holograms? And where did the little spiral christmas trees come from?
