ok. so i'm sitting here at bella's (my girlfriend) waiting for her to come back from mock trial. i was reading for class, but got kinda bored, so i decided to make a post. i have been meaning to for a while, but haven't really had the time.
alrite, so it's the 22nd of janaury, almost a month into this new year and i haven't commented on the fact that it's no longer 2003. so at the end of the year, people usually reflect on the past year in life, love, disappointment, success, failure, and hope for the future. i guess i'll do a bit of that as well, but it's not terribly necessary since, well, you have all of my comments for the past two years just a click away. i'll be brief.
i'll divide the year into two halfs. during the first half my life had become stale. the class and work routine became just that - and i was running through them simply to run through them. i was living in a place where the lifestyle of my roommates didn't match my own. (lifestyle with respect to cleanliness, drinkage were the biggies. care for more, then you'll ask.) simply put, i wasn't happy.
then along came summer and a few planned events (and other surprises) helped to make this the best year of my life (INCLUDING the first six months - that's how great the last half was). i went back to ryla (met bella there). i traveled to ghana (hot shiet, talk about an experience). i moved into a new apartment (my lifestyle). i have become super good friends with trevor, the guy who i "replaced" in my new apartment. bella and I (mostly bella) introduced him to his girlfriend, aka bella's roommate.
on another note, ive lost touch with some of my old friends from the dorms since moving into my new place. i wish i still saw some of them more often than i do (at all, even).
resolutions? (thoughts on the new year?)
blek. i don't do those, really. i gained a bit of chub over the break and am working on getting rid of it. it's hard to find time to get rid of Thegut, my spare tire of a friend. i started riding my bike to school this week (i got a new bike helmet and bike lock for christmas). i really like it so far - i feel more in control of my schedule, not having to hope the bus doesn't get stuck at a stoplight because in LA there are no protected left hand turns, dealing with rerouted bus routes, yada yada yada. it takes a bit less time, plust i'm getting exercise when before i was just sitting around on a bus. who knows how long it'll last when it starts to get hot. vamos saber.
adj and i have been commenting on how it's only 2nd week and we already feel overwhelmed. my class schedule isn't bad. only thing that's keeping it from being awesome is that i have 6 hours of class, straight. it's just that somehow, stuff has gotten in the way of my nice blocked schedule - work, meetings, ... i guess as the quarter goes on, i'll get into a good pattern (::crosses fingers::).
the shorterm/longterm future:
i'm graduating in june. i'm ready. what am i doing after i graduate? here's my spiel: "I'm applying for the Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship to study abroad to get my masters degree. - Australia, Scotland, Ireland, UK. It wouldn't begin until fall 2005, so i would have to take a year off to work, which is good so i could save to cover what the scholarship wouldn't." yea, THAT application i need to work on.
guess where i'm going tomorrow. no, you're wrong. not THERE. i'm going to a homeless shelter with rotaract for the weekend. we get there at 6:30pm fri and don't leave until 11am sunday. we spend the night there. work there. not sure what to expect really, but i expect it to be nothing like ive done before.
ok, this really is too long of a post. cest la vie. you'll deal.

update on that last post. i found the picture. it was on my wall on the other side of the room. silly me. now, however, i have an extra frame. not sure of it's origin nor its purpose, but i suppose i will ignore those conundrums and put a picture in it. go figure.
