The best way to truly learn about another culture is to become immersed in it – to live it, to be it and, to feel it. Only from immersion can true understanding occur, and from true understanding – acceptance – which can be used to turn this world into something better. All too often, the conflicts on this planet are due to a lack understanding. But there is a type of person who does understand, who does accept, and who does change the world. This type of person is known as a Rotarian. This type of person is not of one race, creed, sex, or language. The one thing they do have in common is the fact that they understand what it is to be human. In the wider scope of things, I do not just want to be an engineer, a teacher, a husband, nor a father. In the end, I want to all of these things as well as a Rotarian. I know that I have the heart of a Rotarian and I know that someday, I will become one.
