seven days. 168 hours. 10080 minutes. 604800 seconds. continue the dimensional analysis and you'll eventually get as big a number as you desire. the past week of my life has been full, to say the least...
exactly one week ago i was in a plane somewhere above arizona headed towards los angeles. i had been in florida finally finishing my new hire orientation (technical training) for citrix. i should have been with my new hire group polishing up our presentation which was to be given the next day to the big execs. no dice. that morning our "teacher" gave us the "i have good news and bad news" line. i can't remember exactly which news was good and which was bad, but bascially our presentations were cancelled and we had to get out of fort lauderdale by the following morning because hurricane frances was coming.
i was bummed that i didn't get to do the presentation. even though the execs are nortorious for riping into everyone (45 min presentation and then 1 hour of feedback), it was something i wanted. oh well.
when i originally got my plane tickets for training, i got them from and to LA so that i could spend the bordering two weekends with bella. with training ending early this meant that i would return to LA and be there two extra days! two extra days with bella?! AWESOME!! what about work though? if i was flying back to SJ i would be expected to be in the office on thurs/fri. hmm. since i have a laptop i arranged to work two half days from LA. that way i would have something to do while bella was in class. what a deal...
my plan was to surprise bella. we were missing each other a ton and couldn't wait to see eachother. what a surprise to come two nights early! i packed my stuff. when talking to bella i made it seem as if i was going to have a long night ahead of me preparing for the presentation. i left her a message while waiting to go through security at the airport in FL. i had to be careful to make sure the security announcer on the PA couldn't be overheard.
my bud trevor picked me up at the airport and we ate some food cuz friggin Delta doesn't give meals any more. i still didn't know how i was going to surprise bella. i thought about getting into her apartment and falling asleep in her bed before she got back from her meeting. eating took too long for that. no worries though, for it would work out. she called me just as we were leaving the restaurant.
i told her i was almost done with my presentation (it was 2am FL time at that point). bella: "i love you scottie, i wish you were here now." me: "i miss you too sweetie. i'll be there in two more days." (and by two days i mean twenty minutes...) we got into her lobby ok, but elevators are keyed. damn! she over hears the soda machine in her own lobby humming loudly - "Scottie, what's that noise?" me: "i forgot something in my rental car and i'm going down to get it...that's the elevator noise in the hotel..." blek... trevor calls bella's roommate, angela to let us in. she finally comes down and has to hold her mouth with surprise. we get to their apt and i slowly walk in, peak my head into her room and she sees me.... the sweet girl was so happy/surprised that she cried. awwww...
the rest of the weekend was really awesome. lots of quaility time with bella. even hung out with her mom and sis' family. made a good imipression. {:o) it was great. ate. ate. watched butterfly effect (crazy!)...
my flight back to sj was monday morning. went to bed sunday night with stomach hurting a bit. fell asleep. woke up about an hour later and pain was a lot worse. it was a sharp pain. bella took me to emergency room around 2am. took blood. took temperature. took blood pressure. press here. hurt? no. press there. hurt? hell yes! hurt more when i push or release? both! made me drink radioactive liquid. injected me with iodine. did CT scan. looks like your appendix is inflamed. gotta take it out! had surgery mid morning. used the cameras and tubes instead of one big long incision. three holes in my tummy. went well. stomach is swollen. looks kinda funky. shaved my tummy, too (and my left hand...). but i'll be in tip top shape in a few weeks. until then i've got my vicodin to keep me company...
bella was a real dear. she stay by my side the whole time. even stayed with me in the hospital. she's soooooooo good to me!
ok, this post is already too long...goodbye for now.
